Air Command International reached a milestone in late October, putting the company one step closer to flying its newly designed single-seat gyroplane.
During the November 4 Gyroplane Flying Podcast, Joe Covelli shared news that the custom-designed Polaris engine wiring harness (prototype) had just arrived. > Click here to listen to the podcast.
According to Joe, "Engineering and design work began last February, so this was an extensive undertaking." He added, "The harness is the essential wiring system that connects the Polaris engine, battery, switches, ECU computer, fuel system, diagnostics - really everything to make it run. We test-fit the harness the day it arrived, and it fit perfectly."
In addition to the arrival of the wiring harness, Air Command also announced in the podcast they will be flying a new 100 HP Polaris engine, replacing the initially planned 85 HP engine. With the increase in horsepower, the power-to-weight ratio is significantly improved.
The next step is to install the Polaris 100 HP engine, wiring harness, and muffler on the new airframe and begin tuning the engine's computer for optimal performance. Air Command anticipates commencing test flights in early 2026.
